How to grow

From seed to harvest in four simple steps

1

Prepare the soil

Loosen well-drained soil and mix in a handful of compost or organic manure. Smooth the bed and remove any large clods.

2

Sow the seeds

Plant the seeds about 1 cm deep, spaced evenly. Lightly cover with soil — no need to bury too deep.

3

Water gently

Water with a fine spray immediately. Keep the soil consistently moist (not soaked) until the seedlings emerge.

4

Watch them grow

In 7–14 days you'll see the first sprouts. Thin out crowded seedlings and feed lightly every 2–3 weeks.

About F1 Tomato Nidhi-202 Seeds

Tomato is the most widely grown vegetable in Indian home gardens and for good reason — it is versatile, nutritious and rewarding to grow. The Nidhi-202 F1 hybrid produces firm, bright red tomatoes with a good balance of sweetness and acidity, ideal for everyday Indian cooking. It grows well in pots, grow bags and raised beds on balconies and terraces.

Health Benefits of Tomato

  • Rich in Lycopene: A powerful antioxidant linked to reduced risk of heart disease and certain cancers.
  • High in Vitamin C: Supports immunity, skin health and iron absorption.
  • Good for Heart Health: Potassium and fibre in tomatoes help maintain healthy blood pressure.
  • Supports Eye Health: Beta-carotene and lutein protect eyes from age-related damage.

How to Grow Tomato at Home

Sow seeds 0.5 inch deep in a cocopeat-compost mix. Transplant seedlings to 12-15 inch pots or grow bags after 3-4 weeks. Provide a stake or cage for support as plants grow tall. Water daily and ensure 6+ hours of direct sunlight. Fruits are ready to harvest in 60-70 days from transplanting.

When to Sow Tomato Seeds

Tomato grows best in mild to warm weather. Best sowing windows in India are July to August for a winter harvest and January to February for a summer crop. Avoid transplanting during peak summer heat as young plants are sensitive to scorching.
