How to grow

From seed to harvest in four simple steps

1

Prepare the soil

Loosen well-drained soil and mix in a handful of compost or organic manure. Smooth the bed and remove any large clods.

2

Sow the seeds

Plant the seeds about 1 cm deep, spaced evenly. Lightly cover with soil — no need to bury too deep.

3

Water gently

Water with a fine spray immediately. Keep the soil consistently moist (not soaked) until the seedlings emerge.

4

Watch them grow

In 7–14 days you'll see the first sprouts. Thin out crowded seedlings and feed lightly every 2–3 weeks.

About Marigold Nidhi Sundar Seeds

Marigold is one of the most popular and versatile flowering plants for Indian home gardens. The Nidhi Sundar Value Pack produces vibrant orange and yellow blooms that brighten up any balcony, terrace or garden bed. Beyond their beauty, marigolds are a natural pest repellent — planting them alongside vegetables protects your kitchen garden without chemicals.

Benefits of Growing Marigold

  • Natural Pest Repellent: Marigold repels aphids, whiteflies and soil nematodes, protecting neighbouring plants organically.
  • Attracts Pollinators: Bright blooms attract bees and butterflies, improving pollination across your garden.
  • Long Blooming Season: With regular deadheading, marigolds bloom continuously for months.
  • Medicinal Uses: Marigold petals are used in traditional medicine for their anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

How to Grow Marigold at Home

Sow seeds 0.25 inch deep in well-drained soil or cocopeat mix. Transplant to 6-8 inch pots after 2-3 weeks. Water every 2-3 days and ensure 6+ hours of direct sunlight. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming. Plants flower in 45-55 days from sowing.

When to Sow Marigold Seeds

Marigold grows year-round in India. Best sowing windows are August to September for vibrant winter blooms and January to February for a summer display. Avoid transplanting in peak monsoon as waterlogging damages roots.
